Primitive Reflex Integration

What is Primitive Reflex Integration?

Primitive reflexes are the body’s earliest movement patterns that support survival and development in infancy. As a child grows, these reflexes should evolve into mature, efficient movement. When a reflex remains active longer than expected, it can influence posture, balance, coordination, attention, and learning. Primitive Reflex Integration (PRI) uses gentle, targeted movements and sensory input to help the nervous system organize these early patterns for smoother motor and cognitive function.

What’s Involved in Therapy?

  • Screening & Assessment: Comfortable, non-invasive checks for retained reflexes such as Moro, ATNR, STNR, TLR, Spinal Galant, Palmar, and Rooting.
  • Customized Program: Brief daily home activities (1–5 minutes) and in-clinic progressions that encourage integration without overwhelm.
  • Parent/Caregiver Teaching: We show you exactly how to support carryover at home for the best results.
  • Progress Monitoring: Periodic re-checks and adjustments as skills improve.

Who Can Benefit?

Children
  • Improved core stability and postural control
  • Better balance, coordination, and handwriting mechanics
  • Enhanced visual tracking for reading
  • Calmer startle response and easier transitions
Teens & Adults
  • Reduced tension and “startle” reactivity
  • Greater body awareness and endurance for daily tasks
  • More efficient sitting and standing posture
  • Smoother eye–hand coordination for work or fitness
We not only treat—we also teach. Parents are encouraged to be present during sessions to learn simple techniques that reinforce progress at home.
